Biggest River Bass Yet!It is not often that I actually get to do a float trip rather than putting in and paddling upstream, but this particular day I managed to meet up with 5 other guys and participate in a 6 mile float down the Ocmulgee River.
Last Updated (Monday, 03 May 2010 19:59) Yellow River 09/22/09 FloodingDuring lunch today I was dragging my kayak down to Milstead dam to put in and noticed alot of people gathering... Just kidding, we drove down to the dam in Milstead on the Yellow River during lunch today. The USGS map showed it at 21.96ft and 10,800cfs. Take a look wow! Small Fish > No FishIf you are like me then you spend the majority of your time working and wishing you were doing something else, like fishing. Well, when the time comes for the weekend and you get time to go, you want to go where the fish are biting. This brings up my dilemma, sometimes I want to go explore new water, especially when it's close to home, but I don't want to waste my time on a place that is not worth fishing. Well, I finally decided that if I didn't explore my local waters I may never know if they are worth fishing.
The Triple ThreatThe three of us set out to catch some river bass early this Saturday morning on a float trip down a north Georgia river. It was tough to decide which river to float because the night before we got such a heavy down pour, but through the use of the USGS website, with info that is updated hourly we were able to make the right decision. Early on 2 of the 3 of us had already started catching fish, but one of us was still wearing the skunk cologne. Check out Episode 5 to see the rest of the trip. How to catch a Dink?First of all, what is a dink? Well after looking up the term it seems the actual definition doesn't describe anything to do with fishing. There was a slang definition which I thought would be funny if used to describe a fish - "A fully grown person who looks like they are still dressed by their mother." It seems the sport fishing community has adopted this term to describe a small fish which holds no excitable value in a story or recap of a fishing trip. For example, "I went fishing, but only caught dinks" or "Yea, I caught some fish, but they were all dinks." |
